Chicago ipass went thru1/26/2024 ![]() I-Pass is accepted on all toll lanes in Illinois, Chicago Skyway, Indiana Toll Road and in 15 other states via the E-ZPass system. While passing through an open toll a small radio-frequency is sent to the I-Pass transponder the triggers the deduction of toll from the registered account. ![]() I-Pass allows drivers to automatically pay toll while driving, eliminating idle time, excessive breaking and the need to stop at toll plazas. The transponder should be mounted to the front window to the left of the rear-view mirror with the I-Pass label facing the driver. Credit/ debit card information, personal information of account holder, driver’s license number, license plate number and type and vehicle make/model/ year is required when signing up for a transponder. An I-Pass transponder requires a $10 deposit and an additional $20 for the account balance. I-Pass transponders may also be purchased online at, via phone at 1-80 or by mail. Transponders purchased at Jewel-Osco and Road Ranger are preloaded with $20 in tolls and a $2.90 service fee is charged per transponder. ![]() Transponders may be purchased in person at the Rochelle Road Ranger on Highway 38 or in DeKalb at the DeKalb Oasis and Jewel-Osco stores. Each vehicle must be registered to the I-Pass account and have a transponder in the window when driving through the toll. On a shared balance, each transponder draws from a single prepaid account balance. According to the Illinois Tollway, “After five video tolls on a single license plate in one month, you will lose the I-PASS discount on tolls for that license plate, and any subsequent video tolls to that plate will post at the full cash rate for the remainder of the month.” Families and businesses may continue to share an account with “shared balance” but each car will need to have a transponder in place when driving through the toll. I-Pass users are charged half of the cash rate at each toll. Previously a family with multiple vehicles could share one transponder and the tolls cameras would register the license plate charging the vehicle the discounted toll rate. 1, 2018, the Illinois Tollway requires every vehicle to have an I-Pass transponder in the window when going through toll booths. ROCHELLE - An I-Pass not only saves time while driving through Illinois Tolls, but will also save a motorist 50 percent of the cash toll price. You may be getting a bill from them if you did the same thing at any of their open road tolling plaza's.Updated: 5 years ago / Posted All vehicles now required to have transponder when driving through I-Pass tolls no more sharing between vehicles I would check the EZPass system depending on where you came from. All things you failed to do here so now there are extra fees. You can also call Illinois State Police Troop15 directly at 63 extension 5028. If you are experiencing an emergency, you should call 911 from your cellphone. where you get a bill, but in that case, you sign up, make an account, attach some billing possibly. Dial 999 on your cellphone to report incidents on the Illinois Tollway. You seem to be thinking of it like a utility like electric, or water, etc. YOU failed to do all of that, so now they have to hire people to manually look you up, get the video of the violation(s) and send you a notice since you got something (used the tollroad) and didnt pay for two weeks. They also have a website that states if you didnt pay you have 14 days and to sign up to pay your outstanding bills. But luckily they have signs telling you how to pay after each plaza, they have signs telling you before you get on a tollroad that you are about to get on a toll road. (unfortunately you had no choice its now all open road tolling). You went through a ipass lane without an ipass. I'm pretty sure this is the first thing I've ever had to pay for without ever getting a bill/notice FIRST. Any messages to individual moderators will be ignored.
